Chris Colvin, Leading IP Attorney And Commercial Litigator, Joins Eaton & Van Winkle As Partner

EATON & VAN WINKLE LLP is pleased to announce that Christopher A. Colvin has joined our firm as a Partner and will be a significant addition to the Intellectual Property Law, Litigation and Arbitration and Media & Entertainment Law Practice groups.

Mr. Colvin has more than twenty years of experience handling all types of IP and Business Litigation matters across every industry and technology area, including numerous patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and false advertising disputes, licensing transactions and major patent and trademark prosecution matters.

Prior to joining Eaton & Van Winkle, Mr. Colvin was a partner in the boutique law firm of Colvin IP and a partner in the AmLaw 100 firm of Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel.

In addition to his law firm experience, Mr. Colvin has an extensive background serving as in-house IP and litigation counsel, including a one-year engagement as an IP litigator in a Fortune 20 legal department, and lengthy experience serving as the chief IP counsel and general counsel for several startup companies.

Mr. Colvin is also the founder of In The House, an acclaimed and fast-growing 22,000-member organization exclusively for in-house counsel, that is dedicated to supporting professional networking, career development and best practices for in-house counsel.

His substantial in-house experience enables Mr. Colvin to bring to his law practice a unique appreciation of his clients’ business needs and a deep understanding of how legal issues and business strategies intersect in complex corporate projects.

Mr. Colvin lives in a 100-year-old Victorian house in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn and an 80-year-old beach cottage in Fair Harbor, Fire Island with his wife Stephanie, his twins Jack and Ellie and his Italian water dog, Bella.  His outside interests include history, architecture, literature, professional soccer, hiking and travelling.
