EVW Partners File Lawsuit Over Authentication of Sculpture

February 2014 EVW Partners Michael Lacher and Adam Rader filed a multimillion dollar lawsuit in federal court against the Calder Foundation and Estate of Alexander Calder in connection with the Foundation’s refusal to authenticate the Calder sculpture: “Eight Black Leaves,” sold by Calder in 1948 to EVW’s client’s father. Lack of authentication effectively destroys the true market value of an artwork, and damages the reputation of an owner or dealer.
